Happy New Year! 2023 Year in Review / 2024 Preview!

To all our friends and fellow collectors...HAPPY NEW YEAR!

And happy 10th anniversary to us! 2024 will be our 10th year in business!

It's been a ride. Our primary goal when we started Felix Comic Art was to bring attention to the exceptional art being created by the most talented modern comic artists. Until then, the comic art market was entirely driven by nostalgia, and dominated by vintage art. But why should artists wait until they're retired to see their art be appreciated by collectors? If they're even still around to see that at all? And besides, ALL art starts off as modern art! So from the collector's side...why wait, as well? Great art is great art, regardless of era.

The idea was to present modern art on equal footing with vintage art. To not accept a second-class status. To go toe-to-toe as a rep of modern artists with vintage dealers. Crazy!

I will be the first to tell you that I had no expectation that any of this would work. But that's the beauty of starting at the bottom; you've got nowhere to go but up. And you have nothing to lose.

So with that, I can now report to all of you that the long shot bet has paid off: Felix Comic Art has risen to overall #1 in original comic art sales for 2023. For modern AND vintage sellers. A first for us and a first for modern art.

THANK YOU. Thank you to our beautiful artists who took that initial leap of faith. But just as crucially, thank you friends and collectors for also giving us a chance. And trusting your eyes. If you've been building a collection with our artists...I suspect you're pretty thankful, as well! It's been a win-win; your enthusiastic patronage has allowed our artists the ability to create the incredible art you hold in your hands. Something they acknowledge and for which they remain extremely grateful and appreciative!

2023 was our biggest year yet. Between original art, prints, and comics, we placed over 4000 pieces into your collections. With what's coming down the pike from our artists, we look to continue the trend in 2024.

New and continuing titles are coming from Filipe Andrade (RARE FLAVOURS), Matías Bergara (CODA 2: FALSE DAWNS), Ian Bertram (PRECIOUS METAL), Chris Burnham (UNSTOPPABLE DOOM PATROL), Nick Dragotta, Bilquis Evely (HELEN OF WYNDHORN), Sanford Greene (BITTER ROOT 2), James Harren (ULTRAMEGA 2), Leslie Hung (SNOTGIRL), Daniel Warren Johnson (TRANSFORMERS), Nic Klein (THE INCREDIBLE HULK), Andrew MacLean (HEAD LOPPER). Steve McNiven, Chris Mooneyham (G.I. JOE), Ryan Ottley, Nick Pitarra (AX-WIELDER JON), Riley Rossmo, Geoff Shaw, Ryan Sook, Ryan Stegman, and Marcio Takara (POISON IVY). We can't disclose any details yet, but included in that group will be two of the biggest titles from the Big Two. It's going to be a banner year!

We also remain optimistic that in-progress new projects from Cliff Chiang, Aaron Conley, Nick Derington, Langdon Foss, Stephen Green, Stuart Immonen, Jeffrey Alan Love, and Paul Pope will be released this year.

Of course, there will be stellar new illustrations and covers from Yuko Shimizu and Chris Stevens. We will also have special events for Bryan Lee O'Malley (SCOTT PILGRIM) and Steve Oliff (SPAWN). And maybe more DOCTOR STRANGE: FALL SUNRISE from Tradd Moore...?

All of this continues to support our charity efforts, now centered around my own, The Lu Family Fund. I'm proud to announce that once again in 2023, the Fund was able to approve EVERY SINGLE application to our primary initiative, The Second Opinion Project. Which means we we've been able to help over 200 patients seek exceptional care and treatment options, resulting in a chance for hope, an improved outcome, and even cure. This is all possible due to your support. We have a major art auction fundraiser planned for 2024...our first in four years! Beyond that, your tax deductible contributions are aways appreciated. Thank you for this, most of all!

We look forward to continuing our engagement with you through our chats and YouTube UNBOXING / ART SHOW livestreams. We also have some cool guests lined up for our podcast, and yes, bringing back some of your past favorites. As well as new projects we'll be trying out. So 2024 is shaping up to be another beautifully busy year with art and fun with all our friends and fellow collectors! Look out for special events and exclusive offers to celebrate our 10th!
