He's letting another issue go! That's right, we are dropping MORE original art from Filipe Andrade's landmark CAPTAIN MARVEL run tomorrow, Monday December 9th, at 9AM PST/12PM EDT!
Filipe has been on an amazing hot streak, selling out art from his last three drops (WHAT IF? MAGIK, CAPTAIN MARVEL, ABSOLUTE CARNAGE: THE IMMORTAL HULK), as well as all his commission lists. Fans LOVE his latest style, a perfect blend of his European sensibility with American super-heroes...and it all started with CAPTAIN MARVEL. As gorgeous as his latest work has been, CAPTAIN MARVEL remains his career highlight. As well it should. Along with acclaimed writer Kelly Sue DeConnick, Filipe has contributed a key run in Marvel's long history. Indeed, without his contributions, it's very likely Captain Marvel would not have become an important mainstay Marvel character. And very likely there would not have been the smash-hit movie.
As we noted in our first CAPTAIN MARVEL drop, this art has always been special for Filipe, and he has held onto it tightly...until now. He still has no plans to sell it all, so we are extremely grateful that he's allowing us to offer another issue to fans. I posted this review before, but it's worth sharing again:
While Andrade is still a relative newcomer, what he has in common with these more established artists is -- without sacrificing clarity -- a daring, utterly audacious approach to figures and storytelling that confounds the reader's expectations for a modern cape comic. You can get impeccably drafted, photorealistic and cinematically rendered superhero action in any number of Marvel or DC comics, but on virtually every level Captain Marvel offers the capes fan something he or she rarely gets to see: a properly kick-ass, takes-her-cat-to-the-vet super-heroine drawn not just respectfully, but truly awesomely.
Not much else to say, except good luck tomorrow! Thanks all, talk soon!
