DANIEL WARREN JOHNSON sketch sale update! + Chat!
Published on April 13, 2018
Thanks to all who checked in to our Daniel Warren Johnson art drop today. All sketches have sold! Congrats to all those who scored their piece of DWJ magic! For everyone else, fear not, more will be coming later this year...keep watching and good luck!
As it happens, though, whenever we do a drop, there will be many people who get shut out. Unfortunately, each piece of art is one-of-a-kind...and only one person can get it. This can be frustrating to newcomers to our site, especially. So I'd like to take this chance to explain how our site works.
Art placed in the cart does not put the art on hold. The order has to be submitted through the site. All orders are time-stamped by the site. In the case of duplicate orders for the same item, the first order submitted gets the art. First come, first served. We feel this is the fairest way to determine who gets the art.
We sell art priced at all levels. We do make a conscious effort, though, to make as much affordable art available as we can so that every fan and collector has a chance to own something. When art is attainable for a wide range of collectors, there will be high demand. Often, VERY high demand. It's been suggested to us that we can make our own lives easier by raising the prices of these sketches and/or implement an auction system in the case of multiple competing orders. We choose not to do this, as it defeats the purpose of what we're trying to accomplish: To give everyone an opportunity to have their own piece of original art from a favorite artist.
As with everything, there are pros and cons. No system is perfect. Not everyone will be happy. On balance, though, I believe our way works well enough. Again, we try to price fairly and provide top-notch service to all. I hope that's enough to forgive any site limitations. Those who have participated in multiple drops will confirm that it's impossible to be first everytime. But the majority of collectors will win at least some of the art they want when they keep trying.
