BILQUIS EVELY original art drops tomorrow, Fri. 8/14, at 9AM PDT/12PM EDT! SANDMAN!
Published on August 13, 2020
The art has arrived from Brazil! The FIRST EVER Bilquis Evely art drop is tomorrow, Friday August 14th, at 9AM PDT/12PM EDT! And yes...her SANDMAN art will be available!
Bilquis has been at the top of art collectors' want lists for the past several years, owing to her incredible work on such high-profile projects as WONDER WOMAN, THE DREAMING, her many cover assignments, and more. But anyone who's tried to get art from Bilquis before will attest to how difficult it's been. She simply hasn't wanted to sell anything. The demand has been so great for her art, that when she donated a single page from THE DREAMING for our NAACP benefit auction, it garnered a jaw-dropping $5400!
At this point, she is still extremely selective about what she'll let go. So I'm thrilled to tell you that she's agreed to give me her art from THE SANDMAN UNIVERSE #1! And now we're making these special pages available to you all!
THE SANDMAN UNIVERSE #1 was the one-shot special launching the new universe centered around Neil Gaiman's epic SANDMAN. Celebrating the 30th anniversary of SANDMAN (as well as commemorating the 25th birthday of the Vertigo imprint), THE SANDMAN UNIVERSE #1 was also the springboard for the popular and critically-acclaimed flagship Sandman Universe title, THE DREAMING. It's only fitting, then, that Bilquis went straight from THE SANDMAN UNIVERSE #1 to be the artist for THE DREAMING. For which she was named ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY's Best Artist of 2018 and nominated for Best Artist and Best Series from the Eisner Awards this year. Read more about THE DREAMING here. But remember, it all starts with THE SANDMAN UNIVERSE #1.
(Bilquis is NOT selling any individual pages from THE DREAMING at this time. However, she will consider selling an issue complete. Complete issues of WONDER WOMAN, as well as her complete Batman story from BATMAN ANNUAL and Batman/Wonder Woman story from DC HOLIDAY SPECIAL, are also available. Write for me for scans/details.)
We will also have a fantastic selection of Bilquis' cover work at the drop.
Finally, I'm can confirm that Bilquis will not be available for commissions for the foreseeable future. DC is simply keeping her too busy. If anything changes for 2021 or beyond, we will let you all know via this newsletter, as usual.
Thanks everyone, see you tomorrow, and good luck!
